Class Happenings:
Handwriting
We are working on lower and higher case letters with emphasis on “bumping the lines” as well as spacing between letters and words. (One finger spacing.) Please practice with your child at home.
Language Arts
We are working on phonetic sounds of letters A-F, our first decodable book, rhyming words, and color words: red, blue, yellow, brown, orange, and black.
Please read to your child every night.
Science
We will be learning the importance of safety in science; what the earth is made of; the earth’s waterways; and types of weather.
Social Studies
We will be learning about rules and citizenship; responsibility and privacy; calendar time- days, weeks, months; and what is history.
Math
We are working on these directional/positional words: above/below; top/middle/bottom; over/on/under; inside/outside; in front/behind; right/left; before/between/after; and colors: red, blue, orange, yellow, and brown.
Religion
We are learning that GOD gives us light, water, land, and animals because HE loves us.

Reminders:
Homework
Please remember that homework is sent home on the first day of the school week and returned anytime finished between the beginning and last day of the school week.
Skate Night
Is every first Wednesday of the month starting at 5:30 at the Eutaw Skating Rink.
Labor Day Holiday
Sept. 3rd and 6th- we are out of school.

Hello
The children are off to a great start in school. I see them very eager to learn and take on new challenges. I am truly looking forward to working with each one of them and seeing them GROW throughout the year. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered their time . It is greatly appreciated!
